A pretty course in a nice setting.

I played this course about 3 months ago in spring when all the flowers were in bloom. I remember thinking it is probably the prettiest course I have played at. The course can not really be described as difficult - it is not overly long and the rough is forgiving. When I played my round the greens had just been cored so I found I had to hit my putts quite hard to get the ball to the hole. The holes I liked the most were the 15th which has a creek running alongside on the left and in front of the green, as well as a large gum tree on the right. The 17th has a large lake as the fairway so anything short is history. Unfortunately being concerned about this I overclubbed and ended up in the thick garden bed at the back of the green and had to drop out. The day I played was quite windy, especially later in the round and as the course is nestled in a valley I believe this made the wind even stronger. But don't let this put you off playing a round at Blackheath - if nothing else you will remember the picturesque setting.
Blue Mountain delight

I rate Blackheath GC the most enjoyable and prettiest golf course in the Blue Mountains although it lacks the panoramic views that Leura GC has. It is quite a hilly course with plenty of trees and well defined fairways. Although not the longest of country courses it requires accurate driving to avoid overhanging tree branches and tricky rough.
The greens are of a fair pace but because of the dampness that pervades in the Blue Mountains, particularly in the winter they can be slow. However the ball rolls fairly on putts and holds well struck shots. The altitude adds extra distance to tee shots which should please visiting golfers.
Playing Blackheath is a pleasant experience and is best played in summer as the winter fogs can make this course unplayable due to the altitude of 1100m.
I love it...
